Enginering Materials- Module 4, Activity 1

Analyze the stress -strain curves of the four tested material specimens( Steel , Brass, Copper and  Aluminum) created earlier to find the following:
1.   Which material has the highest compressive strength?

Engineering Materials- Module 2 -Activity 1

1. Why pieces of cast iron can not be bent? What are the properties that the material should have in order to be bent?

2. Give examples of situations where the material is subjected to tensile, compression and shear stress.

3. Classify the materials; lead, rubber, steel, and concrete under headings elastic, plastic, and brittle.

Engineering materials - Module 1- Activity 2

Look at an electric soldering iron and do the following:

. List the materials used to manufacture it.

2. Discuss what properties each of the materials used has and write them down.
